10x10 is the new single by TFATD and is a prelude to the brand new album due in May 2011. A follow up to the excellent debut Part One (a single 19 minute EP track).
The band evolved from an experiment by their noted guitarist Matt Stevens. Part improvisational, the music does have an experimental feel but is none the worse for it.
10x10 has one of those bass lines that has you hooked from the onset and It builds to a nice climactic finale with a sequencer type rhythm which could just as easily be a heavily treated looping acoustic guitar. Matt Stevens is involved in several understated projects and his playing has a classical feel which perfectly matches the ambience of his portfolio.

The flip side 'Foreign Languages' has a plodding Mogwaiesgue distort-athon theme with electro doodling and spacey plucking overlays. Interesting stuff and a nice prequel to the album.

The single is currently on a 'pay what you want' basis at Bandcamp where you can also download the Part One EP on a similar basis.
