Progressive Rock is back! 2 festivals in the north
Progressive Rock (whilst never having been away for many people) is firmly back on the map in 2011. Along with the regular Summers End festival in Gloucestershire there is also Fused from the same Summers End team and the 2nd staging of High Voltage in London. If that wasn't enough to make your mouth water there are 2 brand new festivals in the North of England.
In view of the economic gloom the festival organisers have made tickets for the northern festivals very affordable whilst still amassing line-ups of distinction. Let's hope the prog community will support them and ensure their continuation into 2012.
The Progmeister Festival takes place on the 26th March, 2011 at The Studio in Hartlepool. Featuring 7 bands, tickets are only £17.50 and are available online here
It promises to be a great festival with the line-up including Manning, Combination Head, John Hackett & Nick Magnus, RetroGenesis, Glacier, MOG and Manir Donaghue.
The organisers report that it will be possible to pay on the door but that advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.
The Electric Garden Progressive Rock Festival takes place in the entertainment capital of the world Blackpool, on May 19th, 20th and 21st, 2011.
Another fantastic line-up, the event is being professionally filmed and recorded for subsequent DVD release. Anyone purchasing 3 day pass tickets will get a free copy of the DVD and there are also free prog goody bags and programmes on offer.
With another storming line-up, the event takes place at BEAT on Corporation St. Again advance ticket purchase is highly recommended to take advantage of substantial savings and incentives. Pay on the door is available depending on availability.
The line-up comprises:
THURSDAY 19th: MATT STEVENS, ALSO EDEN, CREDO
FRIDAY 20th: DROPSHARD, NERVE TOY TRIO, THE WATCH
SATURDAY 21st: EARTHLING SOCIETY, SEYES, GODSTICKS, IT, ABEL GANZ, THE TANGENT
More information here. Advance Ticket Sales Here.
Strummer will be at both festivals to review and report on events.
